PM Modi addressed the G20 Labour and Employment Ministers Meet in Indore, Madhya Pradesh via video message. PM Modi emphasized skilling the workforce with the use of advanced technologies and processes and said that skilling, re-skilling and up-skilling are the mantras for the future workforce. He gave examples of India’s ‘Skill India Mission’ making this a reality, and ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana’ which has trained more than 12.5 million of India’s youth so far.

What is Namaste Canada?
 Namaste Canada is an initiative of the Consulate General of India, Vancouver, BC, Canada. It is a Mega Cultural Dance and Music event that brings together Indian Cultural Societies & Associations from across the Lower Mainland to celebrate India’s diverse music, dance, arts, and culture. Namaste Canada 2023 will feature over 40 Indian Cultural Music / Dance groups. From Maharashtra and Gujarat in the West to Assam and Bengal in the East, from Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab in the North to Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the South - come take a tour of India and witness a one-of-its-kind multi-cultural dance show in the Lower Mainland!
Namaste Canada is a FREE EVENT for the public to celebrate India's rich diverse cultural heritage.

The Consulate General of India, Vancouver is partnering with Victoria Drive Business Improvement Association in the Summer Festival. Come and Join us on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 10 am onwards at Jones Park, Victoria Drive, Vancouver and enjoy the vibrant and energetic cultural performances from different parts of India.

 

Consul General was invited by Prof Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay for a round table with IIT Bombay Alumni in Vancouver. Discussions were focussed on strategic plan of the Institute to 2030; expanding cooperation with Canadian Universities in the field of technology, research, innovation.

 

Consul General  met with the International Relations team from Alberta led by Mr. John McDonald, Managing Director, Indo-Pacific regions, in Vancouver. They discussed current state of Indo-Alberta economic relations and ways to further enhance it.

 

Consul General attended the Shree Jagannath Rath Yatra organized by the Vancouver Odia Association and Vedic Hindu Cultural Society at Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Surrey. More than 300 devotees attended the procession. The event showcased the cultural tradition of Odisha, art & craft, textile and food.An exhibition of Odia handicraft products was also organized. In his address Consul General spoke about the importance of Rath Yatra and congratulated the organizers and volunteers for organizing the festival for first time in Surrey, and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Odisha.

 

As part of  consulate आपकेद्वार initiative, Consulate General of India in Vancouver organized a two-day consular camp in Regina, on 15-16 July, 2023 in partnership with India Canada Association of Saskatchewan. More than 640 consular services were rendered to Indian citizens & Indo-Canadian diaspora living in Saskatchewan.

 

Consul General  was pleased to receive Swami Sadyojathah Ji from Art of Living at the Consulate and discussed activities of Art of Living Canada & possible areas of cooperation with the Consulate in promoting  Yoga ,Meditation  & Breathing Techniques, & practical wisdom for daily living.

US returns 105 antiquities to India days after PM Modi's visit

The United States on Monday repatriated 105 trafficked antiquities to India at the Indian Consulate in New York - just weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘historic’ state visit. According to a government release, the artifacts represent a wide geographical spread in terms of their origin in India – with 47 from Eastern India, 27 from Southern India, 22 from Central India, six from Northern India, and three from Western India.

Space start-ups over the moon with govt's FDI push, Isro's tech transfer

From the 1980s, Isro has transferred over 400 technologies to around 235 industries. The electric vehicle industry’s growth in India is expected to create around five million jobs by the end of next decade, an official statement from NITI Aayog said on Thursday. The statement quoted Vice Chairman Suman Bery speaking at a conference in Goa highlighting the growth prospects of the emerging sector.The conference was held on the sidelines of the fourth energy transition working group meeting under India’s G20 Presidency, and discussed ways of achieving growth in the electric mobility ecosystem.

Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have recorded record numbers in the first half of 2023, with 8,528 units sold by Mercedes-Benz alone.
